Valley Gardens – Nestled in the heart of Low Harrogate, the Valley Gardens stands as the town’s premier green oasis, sprawling across what was once ‘Bogs Field,’ a site rich in natural springs. This lush expanse of Valley Gardens offers an array of attractions for all to enjoy, including an inviting ice-cream parlour, a delightful children’s play area complete with an outdoor paddling pool, an exhilarating skate park, frisbee golf for enthusiasts, and captivating options like crazy golf and mini-golf.

Covering an impressive 17 acres, Valley Gardens is a testament to English Heritage, holding the prestigious Grade II listing. Within its embrace, you’ll discover meticulously curated themed gardens, a riot of vibrant floral displays, and historic edifices that add character to this verdant sanctuary. Adjacent to this natural haven, more wonders await. Pinewoods (http://www.pinewoodsconservationgroup.org.uk) is a further 96 acres of woodland with footpaths leading to RHS Garden Harlow Carr and Birk Crag an area of outstanding natural beauty.

At the heart of Valley Gardens lies Bogs Field, a place of remarkable significance, where an extraordinary variety of mineral water springs, now transformed into wells, emerge. It’s believed to be home to more of these unique wells than any other place on Earth, with an impressive count of thirty-six out of Harrogate’s approximately one hundred mineral wells residing within the garden’s embrace, each one distinct from the others.

Valley Gardens is a place of perpetual transformation and rejuvenation, where the past and the present harmoniously coexist, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a unique blend of nature, history, and horticultural excellence.. The gardens are continually being restored and regenerated with major works spearheaded by Friends of Valley Gardens, working with North Yorkshire Council who own and manage the gardens.

The Stray, located at 16 W Park, Harrogate HG1 1BJ, is a magnificent expanse of public parkland situated at the heart of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Spanning an impressive 200 acres, it was originally established in 1778 by an act of Parliament. This unique parkland was designed with a noble purpose: to connect and preserve the numerous curative springs and wells that are a hallmark of Harrogate. Even today, the legislation mandates that any portion of The Stray removed, often necessitated by infrastructure projects like road widening, must be replaced elsewhere.

During the Victorian era, this area also featured a prominent racecourse for horses. The Stray stands as a testament to Harrogate’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage and providing a spacious and picturesque escape for both residents and visitors to enjoy.
