Harrogate BID has launched an exciting campaign to encourage local businesses to sign up for the town’s Gift Card scheme, a powerful initiative designed to lock in spending and strengthen the local economy.

What is the Harrogate Gift Card?

The Harrogate Gift Card is a fantastic way to ensure money stays within the local business community. Since its launch in 2019, the scheme has successfully secured over £170,000 of investment into Harrogate’s businesses. Almost 100 businesses are already participating, and the BID team is keen to increase this number in the coming months to further support the town’s economic growth.

Why Join the Scheme?

Bethany Allen, Operations and Projects Executive at Harrogate BID, oversees the initiative and highlights its growing popularity.

“The Harrogate Gift Card is gaining traction year after year, and we want as many businesses as possible to sign up,” Bethany explains. “This initiative ensures that spending stays within our local economy, as the cards can only be used at registered businesses within Harrogate, not online or outside the town.”

The scheme covers a broad range of businesses, including bars, restaurants, hair salons, hotels, and cafes, encouraging people to shop locally all year round.

Promoting the Gift Card Throughout the Year

Harrogate BID runs various promotional campaigns to boost Gift Card sales. Whether marketing it as the perfect wedding present or a thoughtful end-of-year gift for a teacher, the team is dedicated to ensuring the Gift Card remains a top choice for local spending.

Digital Convenience

In October 2024, Harrogate BID introduced a digital version of the Gift Card, making it even more convenient for users. The digital card can be stored on a mobile phone and accessed through an app, allowing seamless transactions via a phone’s digital wallet.
