Looking for things to do in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon? September and October 2026 bring a packed programme of live music, theatre, comedy, exhibitions, festivals, fairs and family days out across the Harrogate district.

From major events at Harrogate Convention Centre and performances at Harrogate Theatre to live music, vintage fairs, autumn walks and Halloween adventures, there is plenty happening across North Yorkshire.

Harrogate Convention Centre has a particularly busy autumn ahead, with major exhibitions, conferences and entertainment coming to the King’s Road venue.

The programme also includes conferences, exhibitions and Royal Hall public open days throughout September and October.

Theatre, Shows & Cinema in Harrogate

Dial M for Murder comes to Harrogate Theatre from 8–12 September, bringing the classic thriller that inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s famous film to the stage.

Cinema audiences can also enjoy special cultural screenings at Everyman Harrogate, including Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas on 19 September, National Theatre Live: The Misanthrope on 22 September and Verdi’s Macbeth on 17 October.

Comedy & Big Nights Out

There are some familiar faces heading to Harrogate this autumn.

Paul Merton & Suki Webster’s Improv Show comes to Harrogate Theatre on 2 October, followed by local favourite Maisie Adam: Whatsherface on 11 October, with afternoon and evening performances.

Also on 11 October, Miriam Margolyes: Full English comes to Harrogate Convention Centre for an afternoon of stories, conversation and audience questions.

Live Music Around Harrogate

Blues-rock fans can catch Danny Bryant live at Ripley Town Hall on 19 September, while Serious Sam Barrett, Lewis Pugh and David Broad bring an acoustic and blues evening to Rooster’s Taproom in Harrogate on 15 October.

Fairs, Festivals & Days Out

There is plenty happening beyond Harrogate town centre too.

Threads of Home Afghan Pop-Up & Exhibition takes place in Ripon on 19 September, combining traditional Afghan food, storytelling and handcrafted items.

On 26 September, Ripley Town Hall hosts the Ripley Antique & Vintage Fair, while Ripon Racecourse combines the final racing fixture of the season with the Theakston Beer Festival & Race Day.

Autumn Events & Halloween Family Fun

For something outdoors, a guided September Friday Nature Walk takes visitors on a five-mile route through Staveley Nature Reserve near Knaresborough on 11 September.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr hosts its Looking Good in the Garden: Autumn Workshop on 2 October, followed by the National Alpine Garden Show on 10 October.

And as Halloween approaches, Hocus Pocus Halloween begins at Mother Shipton’s Cave in Knaresborough on 24 October, promising witchy characters, cauldrons, woodland surprises and marshmallow roasting for families.
